Prayer Journey takes place on Saturday mornings about once a month from March through November. Before joining the event staff, please attend a Prayer Journey as a participant. Volunteers serve for about 4 hours.

There are a variety of roles for volunteers. On your first visit as a volunteer you will shadow our current event staff so that you can see how each role functions and then choose what best suits your interest. The Starter meets the participants at the starting point of their Journey to welcome and provide instructions. Greeters welcome the participants as they arrive at our Therapeutic Recovery Center. Debriefers give groups a tour of our facility and then talk with the participants as they process their experience. Merchandisers staff a table where participants can make purchases.

Due to the training involved, we request that volunteers serve for at least three consecutive Prayer Journeys in a calendar year. For more information contact Volunteer@ascent121.org.

Understanding the Life is an interactive learning experience that helps small groups in the community to understand better what trafficking looks like in Indiana, how kids get drawn into it, and what role Ascent 121 plays in their recovery. This is an event that takes place by request as locations around Indianapolis - homes, churches or businesses. It can take place during the day or in the evening, on any day of the week. People in the community request an Understanding the Life and we send a Facilitator and materials to their location.

An Understanding the Life session takes about 90 minutes. We train Facilitators to guide the group through the experience. As requests come in, we reach out to our Facilitator team to see who may be available for the date and time that has been requested. As a Facilitator you determine what days and times and how frequently you volunteer.
